After performing the album in its entirety for the very first time, Tyler gave a brief speech to the crowd where he explained the inspiration behind Chromakopia.“This album originally started [with me] growing up in these areas. I was like, ‘Oh shit, no one knows anything about me from before, like, 17,’” he said.
The album kinda just turned into me taking a bunch of shit my mom told me as a kid. Now that I’m 33, all of that stuff is like ‘Oh, that’s what the fuck she was talking about!’”He added: “People are getting older, folks are having kids and families, and all I got is a new Ferrari. I’m gaining weight, I got a gray hair on my chest.
Life is life-ing and I just wanted to write about stuff that I think about when I’m dolo. And I’m happy that y’all got to experience it in my hometown.
