A mom-of-five was told she had just five weeks left to live after being too scared to visit a doctor about a lump on her breast.
Kourtni Smith, 34, had been unable to nurse her seven-month-old son due to the growth. But she didn’t want to go to the doctor because she feared the diagnosis she might receive.
Now, Kourtni is in hospice care, having been given less than two months (60 days) to live after being diagnosed with stage 4 invasive lobular carcinoma — a form of cancer. She’s desperately using whatever time she has left to set up provisions for her family, including her five children, who range in age from two to 16.
“I have young, sensitive, creative and intelligent children that I want to support through this world,” she wrote on a GoFundMe page set up in her name to cover funeral costs and other expenses likely to be incurred by her husband, Andre, as he navigates becoming a single father.
