UPDATE: Microsoft has provided this update on the current situation with Xbox Live servers and services being down on Xbox One:
Affected services include: “Creating new accounts on Xbox Live, managing those accounts, or recovering an account on a different device. Joining other Xbox Live members in online games.”
The good news is that reports of Xbox live issues are dropping among Xbox One users, meaning things could be returning to normal very soon.
ORIGINAL: The Xbox Live servers are down tonight temporarily for users on Xbox One and Xbox 360.
Reports started coming in of issues connecting with core Xbox Live services at around 1am, GMT.
The good news is that this isn’t a worldwide outage, but gamers are being affected in the United States and the UK.
Reports from gamers tonight suggest that Party Chat services have been affected, as well as general connection to multiplayer games.
It’s unclear what has caused tonight’s outage or how long it might last on Xbox One and Xbox 360.
The good news is that Microsoft will likely provide an update if Xbox Live server problems continue.
So far, nothing has been updated on the official Xbox Live server support site run by Microsoft.
A message from one affected user adds: “Can sign in, however, it shows I have no friends on, and their gamer pics are all different. Also, party chat is not available.
“Outage happening right now, everyone on friends list is showing offline and I can’t hear people in the party,” another gamer adds.
