Maura Higgins is best known for her summer spent in little more than her bikini on Love Island 2019, where she started her romance with Curtis Pritchard. However, there is no swimwear in sight in the reality star’s newest snaps, where she looks incredible in a variety of monochrome outfits. In an exclusive interview in this week’s GRAZIA, the 28-year-old went for minimal make-up and classic attire, a long way from her vibrant swimwear in the Mallorcan villa. “I’ve never seen a photo of myself like that,” she admitted, before going on to discuss her “biggest worry” after signing up for the programme and her relationship with the brother of Strictly Come Dancing professional AJ Pritchard.
Wearing her brunette tresses down in a natural wave, Maura’s toned pins were impossible to miss in a pair of black shorts.
Posing with her arms across her slender curves, she teamed her bottoms with a loose-fitting white shirt.
A second offering saw the ring girl from County Longford, Ireland, in wide-legged, high-waisted trousers.
She also chose a tight black vest while her hair was tied back into a low ponytail, as she rested on her knees.
“I’ve always been misjudged, my whole life,” Maura commented. “I think people look at my Instagram and think of me as a completely different person – because when I meet people out, they always say, ‘You’re so much nicer than I expected’.”
It was being “so pale” that concerned her to most about signing up for Love Island 2019, after a cruel school taunt.
She continued: “My biggest worry going into Love Island was that I am so pale and I don’t get a colour. My mammy was saying to me, ‘Maura, honestly, you’ve got more to worry about than your bl**dy tan!’
“I was thinking everyone else was going to be so tanned, and I would be a ghost. My nickname at school was Casper.”
Maura revealed: “I just like nice brown skin, you know? But looking back now, there’s 101 pictures of me with no make-up on, and it doesn’t faze me. I’m not bothered about it.”
She went on to discuss Curtis and how they will play out outside of the villa, with them being so “busy”.
She added: “I feel like if we both like each other enough we will make time for each other. I’m not a girl to be on edge all the time thinking, ‘I wonder what he’s doing?’
“I trust someone until they do me wrong, and if they do me wrong, that’s it. There are no second chances with me. You’re gone.”
Meanwhile, it comes just hours after Maura shared a snap of the pair kissing in view of her 2.2 million followers.
She captioned it: “Not long till I’m back in your arms.”
“Toooo cute,” her co-star Amber Gill replied, while Curtis told her he couldn’t wait for them to be reunited.
This week’s GRAZIA is on sale now.
