Harry Redknapp, 72, took up his first manager coaching role as assistant manager at AFC Bournemouth in 1982.
He went on to retire from the position after being sacked from Birmingham City in 2017.
Speaking about his role as a football manger, Harry said he would get judged on his accent, instead of his experience.
He told Training Ground Guru: “In this country, people make assumptions about someone purely based on the way they speak.”
He continued: “They hear a Spaniard or German speaking English and automatically think they’re more intelligent than someone with a cockney or scouse accent.
“People thought I was just a motivator, with no clue about tactics.”
Harry added: “What a load of cobblers.”
He had been soaking up the sun with his wife, Sandra, son Jamie Redknapp, 46, and two of his grandchildren, Charley, 15, and Beau, 10.
The former footballer shared a glimpse into their trip abroad with his 1.1 million Instagram followers.
The family looked sun-kissed and relaxed as they all beamed to the camera with their arms around each other.
Harry captioned the snap: “Special times.”
His ex daughter-in-law, Louise Redknapp, whose divorce from Jamie was finalised in 2017, also joined the family on the holiday but wasn’t in the snap.
She’s been sharing stunning snaps to her account as she enjoys the hot weather with her two sons, after Jamie and Harry jetted home for work commitments.
In her most recent post, Louise shared a stunning snap of herself wearing a huge pair of bikini knickers with a bandeau top.
Kneeling on a bed, the former Eternal band member struck a sultry pose as she brushed her hand through her locks.
She captioned the snap: “Big knicker day @eres keeping it all in today.”
Many of her 641,000 followers went wild for her image, with one gushing: “Absolutely stunning every time.”
“Amazing photo Louise and you look so stunning as always,” another said.
A third added: “Wow looking amazing.”
