This isn’t just about one rogue sheriff; it’s part of a growing movement of power-hungry enforcers emboldened by Trumpism, white nationalism, and the erosion of democratic norms.
The Fascist Playbook Is Already in Motion
Watch the video. This sheriff was completely comfortable assaulting a citizen, threatening her with pepper spray, and attempting to drag her out of a public meeting—all while proudly wearing his badge. He didn’t even try to justify his actions, because, in his eyes, he’s untouchable.
This is how authoritarianism begins: those in power test the limits, seeing what they can get away with.
Banning Books: Norris illegally removed books from a public library, asserting his personal right to decide what citizens can read.
Silencing Critics: He’s being sued for publicly defaming a woman with false accusations—textbook intimidation straight out of the dictator’s playbook.
Aligning with Extremists: He’s been seen at rallies with white nationalists and far-right extremists, showing exactly where his allegiances lie.
This Isn’t a Fluke. This Is a Plan.
For years, Trump and his far-right allies have infiltrated law enforcement, the courts, and local governments, placing figures like Norris in positions of power. They’re grooming enforcers to ignore the Constitution, treating political opponents as enemies, and manipulating laws to punish dissent. This is the strategy for how authoritarianism takes root.
It starts with a sheriff who attacks a citizen. Then, another bans books. Next, one refuses to uphold federal law. And before long, the rule of law means nothing—unless you’re on their side.
So Why Are the Democrats Silent?
While these authoritarian threats grow stronger, one question stands out: Why are the Democrats silent? Why aren’t more leaders standing up against this slide toward fascism? Where is the outcry from the left, the party that claims to defend democracy?
Even more concerning, where is Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, a prominent voice in the Democratic Party? She has often spoken passionately about the dangers of authoritarianism and injustice, yet we hear very little from her now. It’s time for her and other Democrats to speak up forcefully before it’s too late.
We can’t afford to remain silent as fascism grows. AOC, and others, must step forward to call out these abuses and demand accountability for those trying to dismantle the democratic system.
We Are at a Point of No Return—What Will You Do?
The most disturbing part of the Norris incident? No one stopped him.
The people in that room witnessed a public official assaulting someone—just as many watched Trump undermine democracy, attack institutions, and evade justice. If we let this continue, we’ll face an even darker future.
We are teetering on the brink. If we let this go unchecked, it could become our new reality:
- Protesters and critics silenced through force
- The Constitution disregarded at will
- Elections manipulated for political gain
- Law enforcement turned into a personal militia
We have two choices: Expose these threats and fight back, or lose everything.
We must call out these dangerous individuals—LOUDLY. Share their names, document their actions. We must vote them out—before voting loses its power.
Support lawsuits, investigations, and whistleblowers who are working to prevent this authoritarian nightmare.
